The Great Horologion
The Great Horologion (Book of Hours) is one of the principal liturgical books of the Orthodox Church, containing the orders of the daily cycle of divine services and numerous prayers. It includes the services of the Hours, the Midnight Office, Matins, Vespers, and Compline, as well as troparia, kontakia, prayers, and other texts necessary for church worship. Unlike abridged editions of the Horologion, the Great Horologion is distinguished by its fuller contents and serves as an important handbook for clergy, readers, and chanters. The book is also of great value for the study of the Orthodox liturgical typikon and the tradition of church prayer.
